He was predeceased by: his father John Henry Schartung I; and his brother David Schartung. He is survived by: his mother Marjorie Dean Russell Schartung; his children, Anna Tidwell (Caleb) and Jeremiah Schartung; his sisters, Ruth Hill (Carroll) and Betty Wedding (Ed); his half-brother Stacy Stewart; and his grandchildren, August, Ariana, Kingston, Chase, Kelsey, Lindsey and Kayla.
