He was predeceased by: his parents, William Brandenburg and Hazel Tharp Brandenburg; his former wife Ida Marie Hessler; his daughter Linda Johns; and his siblings, Opal Martin, Juanita Brandenburg, Peggy Sawyer, Joseph, Herbert and Robert Brandenburg.
He is survived by: his wife Beverly Thompson Wetzel; his son Clayton Brandenburg (Staci) of Scipio; his grandchildren, Layton Brandenburg (Ceara) of Scipio, Katrina Brandenburg, Ian Johns (Stephanie) of Columbus and Miranda Johns-Cummings (George) of Normal, Illinois; his great grandchildren, Andora Cummings and Camille Brandenburg; his sister Joyce Brandenburg of College Corner, Ohio; his stepchildren, Beth Tomson (Jimmy) of Westport, Dena Hasler (Michael) of Columbus and Rana Wetzel of Columbus; his stepgrandchildren, Grace, Melanie, Nate Hasler, Morgan Wullenweber (Andrew), Addison and Bailey Tomson; and his stepgreat-grandson Parker. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
