He was predeceased by: his parents, Charley Whited and Ida Mae Derringer Whited; and his wife Evelyn. He is survived by: his daughters, Sharon Phelps and Brenda G. Newsom; his grandchildren, Lindsey Rust, Ashley Godsey and Jenny London; and his great grandchildren, Lauren, Kaiah and Simon. He is also survived by one brother and three sisters.

Memorials may be made to Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard.
