He was predeceased by: his parents, Stanley R. Melton and Norma J. Merrick Melton; his daughter Denneille Hiten; his siblings, Shirley Browning, Brenda Pearson, Debbie Melton, Dorothy "Dot" Crain and Mac Melton; his sister-in-law Libby Melton; and his niece Tausha Caldwell.
He is survived by: his wife Patty Melton; his children, Whitney Garcia-Martinez (Oscar) of Indianapolis, Joshua Niccum of Clifford, Amanda Lawson (Jacob) of Butlerville and Cody Melton (Shelby) of Taylorsville; and his siblings, Delores Fletcher (Steve), Buck Melton (Sheila), Bonnie Perez (Fred), Pam Caldwell (Tim), Doug Melton (Sung-Hee), Sharon Melton and Joyce Giles (Jerry). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
