She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Gilbert M. Hiscutt and Rose E. Hiscutt (Quinn); her husband Melvin Van Meter Jr.; her children, Melvin Van Meter, III and Naomi Mertens (Michael); her brothers, Anthony Wayne Hiscutt (Joyce) and Alvin Hiscutt; her grandchildren, Natasha Mertens, Sidney (Erin Lewellen), Catherine Van Meter, Trinity Van Meter and Franklin Mertens; her brothers, Patrick Hiscutt and Gilbert Hiscutt; and her sister-in-law Darlene Hiscutt.
Memorial donations may be given in memory to the Humane Society of Whitley County or Dyslexia Institute of Indiana.
