He was predeceased by: his parents, Claude Smith and June Smith (Lovely); his daughter Robin L. Ropp; and his sister Patricia Mohler. He is survived by: his wife Kay L. Lahm; his children, Dawn L. Shaw (Michael) of Pittsboro, Eric C. Smith (Nicole) of Larwill and Lance J. Smith (Sheila) of Columbia City; his sister Peggy Sturgill of Mooresville; and his pet Sophie. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.
