It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Matthew D Wass of Columbia City, Indiana, who passed away on January 19, 2025, at the age of 52, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his grandparents, Dorthy Shuler, Charles Hill Sr., Robert and Mary Wass; his uncle Chuck Hill; and his aunt Carol Stoner.

He is survived by: his parents, Phil Wass and Marty Wass (Hill); his daughters, Shyann Wass of LaOtto, Autumn Wass (Tyler Larowe) of Avilla and Mattalyn Wass (Alex Gudewicz) of LaOtto; his siblings, Ryan Wass of Death Valley, California and Shayna Burgh (Chad) of Fort Wayne; his aunts, Eileen Byerley of Kendallville, Leighann Hill of Florida, Susan Miller (Mike) of Fort Wayne and Julie Peterman of Fort Wayne; and his grandchildren, Blaedin Gudewicz and Crew James Larowe.

“We just learned the loss of this very kind gentleman. We live next door and we fell in love with him from the very start. As neighbors we trusted him and enjoyed many conversations. We loved him fishing and taking walks around our pond. He always offered help and would mow around our pond. Truly he will be missed and our heart breaks. His heart is with our creator.
