He is survived by: his wife Myrtle Griffith; his niece Bernice King of Columbia City; his nephews, James Steele (Marti) of Columbia City and Terry Steele of Columbia City; and his close friend Kate LaFountain of Columbia City. He is also survived by four siblings.
