She was predeceased by: her father Oscar Gentis; her husband Richard J. Spurgeon; her grandson Jason Spurgeon; and her siblings, Donald Gentis, Von Gentis, Walter Gentis, Mabel Atkins and Esther Shelly.

She is survived by: her children, Angelia Chaffin of Huntington and Danny Spurgeon (Corliss) of Columbia City; and her grandchildren, Justin Spurgeon, Brian Chaffin, Jennifer Robinson, Jessica Sauers, Jodie Baker, Julie Spurgeon, Jamie Spurgeon, Lina Spurgeon and Ellisha Chaffin. She is also survived by several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
