He was predeceased by: his parents, Marshall Franklin and Margaret Frey (Hose); his daughters, Sandra Lackey and Billie Mishler; his granddaughter Candy Sue Lackey; and his siblings, Pauline Shumaker, Mary A. Thompson, Wanita Riner, William Frey and Jim Frey.
He is survived by: his daughters, Barbara Engle of Columbia City and Karen Rinehart (Mark) of Kendallville; his stepson David G. Hackworth (Deborah) of Columbia City; and his siblings, Robert Frey of Lagrange and Pat Coney of Coruna. He is also survived by eight grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild; seven step grandchildren; 27 step great grandchildren.
Preferred memorials are to the Whitley County Korean War Veterans Honor Guard.
