He was predeceased by: his son Brad Mooney; his aunt Aventino Massa; and his uncle Virginia Massa. He is survived by: his wife Betty Rendaci Mooney; his son Bart Mooney; and his grandson Mai Manh Hoang.

Burial will follow at Roselawn Cemetery in North Terre Haute In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Parke-Vermillion Humane Society, Clinton Food Pantry, or Sportland Park fund.
