He was predeceased by: his father Richard D. Hixon; his grandparents, John and Norma Swinford; his brother James Hixon; and his brother-in-law James Trout.
He is survived by: his mother Jo Anne Hixon (Swinford); his children, Shasta Hixon of Wisconsin and Dylan Hixon of Brazil; his grandsons, Brantly Hixon and Tyler Hixon; his siblings, Mike Hixon (Vicky) of Terre Haute, Don Hixon (Lisa) of Lewis, Kelly Hixon of Clinton and Mika Jo Yocum of Seelyville; and his great-aunt Marcella Foncannon of Fairview. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the humane shelter in Joe's honor.
