He is survived by: his wife Patricia; his children, James Edward (Libby), Michael, Donald, Bill Benson (Angela Atterson), Roxanne Benson, Gail Glick (John) and Roseanne Bowerley (Dave); his sisters, Mary Sanquenetti, Shirley Kelsheimer and Wanda Carty; and his grandchildren, Jonna Newbold, JoAnna Bryant, David "Buddy" Smith, Jamie Wheeler, Meghan Sloggett, Leah Benson, Chad Nestler, Donnie Norman, Lacey Adams, Travis Ross, Allie Benson-Atterson, Trevor Benson-Atterson and Gabe Benson-Atterson. He is also survived by ten great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
