He was predeceased by: his parents, Elzira Yates (Marshall) and Edward "Eddie" Yates; and his siblings, Wilma Richardson (Bev), Phyllis Beane (Gary), Bill Yates (Judy) and Ron Yates (Kim).
He is survived by: his wife Beulah Marie Yates; and his children, Willard Yates (Arizona), Vincent E. Yates (North Carolina), Greg Yates (Kathy) and Lorraine Brown (Jerry). He is also survived by three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
