He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Ernstberger and Mildred Ernstberger (Kochert); his wife Carolyn Ernstberger (Bolly); his son Charlie Ernstberger; and his siblings, Iona Miller, Huston Ernstberger, Gilbert Ernstberger, Jane Ponto and Annette Akers.
He is survived by: his children, Michael Ernstberger (Sally), Ron Ernstberger (Trudi), Brenda Crockett (Michael) and Jay Ernstberger (Lisa); his siblings, Paul Ernstberger (LaVerne), Ruth Shewmaker (Wayne), Melva Gates (Jack), Nancy Mathews and Rita Drury; and his siblings-in-law, Mary Ruth Ernstberger, Agnes Ernstberger and Merlyn Ponto. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.
The family requests that contributions in Vernon's memory be made to the Frank and Mildred Ernstberger Memorial Fund through the Indianapolis Archdiocese.
