He was predeceased by: his parents, Winnie Loyd Harper and Opal Mae Harper (Compton); his siblings, Mildred Hamilton, Evelyn Taylor, Mary Ritchie and Leo Harper; and his grandson Corey Harper.

He is survived by: his wife Janet Harper (Easley); his children, Katherine Betz (Donald), Edward Harper (Windy) and Micheal Harper (Julia); and his grandchildren, Shannon Harper (David), Chris Bryant, Amanda Smith (Jeremy), James Luttrull (Brittany), Kelly Owen (Matt), Alexander Harper, Branden Harper (Jaclyn), Kasey Schroeder (Bryan) and Lauren Powell (Josiah).
