He was predeceased by: his father Willard Conrad; his brothers, Harold and Irvin Conrad; and his brother-in-law John D. Kingsley. He is survived by: his wife Phyllis Conrad (Kingsley); his children, Tammy L. Evans (Bill) of Jeffersonville, Indiana and James D. Conrad, Sr. of Jeffersonville; his grandchildren, Kayla Evans Hall (Jonathan), James D. Conrad, Jr., Kristen Evans Kidwell (Tyler) and Jennifer D. Conrad; his great grandchildren, Marlee, Kamryn and Avianna Conrad; his brothers, John (Shirley), David (Sarah) and Kermit Conrad (Nancy); and his close friend Bernie Beam (Wanda). He is also survived by numerous sisters in law, nieces and nephews.
