He was predeceased by: his parents, Randolph Ragan and Etta Hicks Ragan; his former wife Mildred A. Rood Ragan; his daughter Carolyn Sue Kleindorfer; his granddaughter Jennifer Krebbs; and his sisters, Margie Reutz, Betty A. Sanders, Lula Katherine Ferguson, Lena Rebecca Panyard and Bonnie Dolphine Starkey.
He is survived by: his wife Sandra Anderson Ragan of Clarksville, IN; his children, Janet L. Carter of Bloomington, IN, Patricia A. Johnson (Robert) of Palmyra, IN, Mary DeBurger (James) of Clarksville, IN, John M. Ragan (JoAnn) of Floyds Knobs, IN, James Andrew Ragan (Rita), Martha R. Fleenor (Richard) of Williamsburg, KY, Susan Beckley (Gary) of Clarksville, IN and Shari Dalton of Pekin, IN; and his sisters, Nancy Lee Smith of Cartersville, GA, Grace Reecher of Lebanon, IN and Molly Doyle of Paducah, KY. He is also survived by 27 grandchildren and many great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
