He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmer Hudgins and Clarabelle Hudgins (Shultz); his former wife Arlene June Hudgins (Michaels); and his brother Kenneth Hudgins. He is survived by: his wife Beverly Hudgins (Shafer) of Chesterton, IN; his sisters, Judy Morrell of Kokomo, IN, Karen Metsker of Plymouth, IN and Shirley Hudgins of Valparaiso, IN; his children, Sharon Nelson (Randy) of Chesterton, IN., James R. Hudgins Jr. (Karen) of Valparaiso, IN, Susan Balas (Craig) of Rockford, MI and Mark Hudgins (Danielle) of Vicksburg, MI.; and his stepdaughters, Carol Bookwalter (Brad) of Fishers, IN and Susie McKnight of Buffalo, NY. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and for the safety of the family and the community at large, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
