He was predeceased by: his parents, Della Frances "Fannie" O'Connell Hart and Harold "Buster" Hart; his brother Charles Hart; his parents-in-law, Dale F. Copeland and Madeline Buchanan Copeland; and his siblings-in-law, D. LaVant Copeland and Darla Christie.

He is survived by: his wife Donna L. Copeland Hart of Charlestown, Indiana; his son Harold LaVant Hart (Paula) of Charlestown, Indiana; his grandchildren, Logan Hart and Susan Hart; and his brother William Robert Hart of Madison, Indiana. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Right to Life of Southern Indiana or the charity of the donor's choice.
