He was predeceased by: his parents, Hugh T. Thompson Sr. and Mary Ruth Thompson Smallwood; and his brothers, Timothy G Thompson, Hugh T Thompson, Jr. and Lewis A. Thompson.
He is survived by: his wife Rita Osborne Thompson; his son Troy Lawson (Mary Ellen); his grandchildren, Anna Grace, Luke Patrick, Sarah Elizabeth, Emma Leigh and Lily Blair of Bardstown, KY; and his sister Phyllis Thompson Knight (Darrell).
