He was predeceased by: his parents, Bernard Knies and Albertha Knies (Heldman); his son Kurt Knies; his siblings, Rosetta Hasenour, Dennis, Jerome, Albert, James, Vernon and Ernest Knies; and his siblings-in-law, Ruth, Bernice, Cyrilla Knies, Anthony Hasenour Sr. and Delmar Schroering.
He is survived by: his wife Frances A. Jochem of Celestine; his daughter-in-law Chris Knies of Dale; his grandson Caleb Knies (Savannah) of Murfreesboro, TN; his great grandchild Smith Edward Knies; his siblings, Connie Schroering of Jasper, Sharon Burger (Jerry) of Jasper, Paul Knies (Carol) of Jasper, Perry Knies (Jane) of Jasper, Bernard Knies (Diane) of Celestine and Randall Knies (Janice) of Celestine; and his sister-in-law Bonnie Knies of Jasper.
In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorial contributions may be made to St. Isidore Parish, the St. Celestine Cemetery Fund, the Celestine Volunteer Fire Department, or the Sisters of St. Benedict Monastery.
