He is survived by: his wife Nancy Buchanan (Green); his sister Stella Buchanan-Schroeder; his aunt Mary Ellen Hazlett; his children, Geary M. Buchanan (Becky), William L. Buchanan, Kim A. Buchanan (Janice), Jana L. Richardson (Stephen) and Lisa B. Mattingly (Michael); and his grandchildren, Chad Buchanan, Brian Buchanan (Elisha), Blake Buchanan, Drew Buchanan (Jamie), Cody Buchanan, Beth, Trevor Richardson, Maisie Richardson, Nick Mattingly, Luke Mattingly and Kayla Mattingly.
