He was predeceased by: his wife Jean Hummermeier Kirby; his parents, John S. Kirby II and Helen Mumper Kirby; his stepmother Martha Kirby; and his brothers, Bob Kirby and Tom Kirby.
He is survived by: his sons, Chris C. Kirby and John S. Kirby IV (Gerry Newkirk); and his grandchildren, Mary Kirby (Katy), Philip Kirby, Jennifer Kirby and Jenna Cantrell. He is also survived by other nieces and nephews.
