He was predeceased by: his parents, Lawrence Franklin Smart Sr and Virginia Bartlett Smart. He is survived by: his wife Kathryn Louise Smart; and his sons, Tyler, Ryan and Brandon. He is also survived by his brother, 4 sisters and a plethora of nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Boy Scouts of America .
