He was predeceased by: his parents, William Arnold "Arnie" and Mabel James (Curl); his daughter Amanda James; his wife Beulah "Polly" James (Applegate); and his siblings, W. Eugene James, Mary Button, Sharon James and J. Thomas James.
He is survived by: his children, Paul James (Shannon Payne), Gatchel, Kristie Underhill (Steve) and Doolittle Mills; his grandchildren, Bryce, David James, Brayden Anderson, Blayre Underhill, Tabitha and William Dixon; his great grandchild Bentley James; and his siblings, Cletus James of Tell City, Delbert James of Tell City, Jule James of Tell City, Janice James of Tell City, Donald James, Larry James of Cannelton and Charles James of Troy.
