He was predeceased by: his parents, George Hughes and Elsie Hughes; his granddaughter Jodi; and his siblings, James, Mildred Clark, Alberta Sturgeon, Fern Sturgeon, Bonnie Jean and Louise Sturgeon.
He is survived by: his wife Phyllis Bennett; his children, Cameron, Vonnie Shell (George) of Campbellsburg and Anita Gibson (Johnnie) of Campbellsburg; his grandchildren, Jayme (Allison), Miranda, Kylee, Stacy, John (Emily), Lacey, Dean (Melissa) and Jessy; and his sons, Keith Lynn and John. He is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren.
