He was predeceased by: his parents, John Nicholson and Elma Nicholson (Phipps); his wife Carolyn Morris Nicholson; and his siblings, Leo, Wayne, Laurel, Maurice, Cecil, John David, Mildred and Bethel.
He is survived by: his children, Brian Nicholson (Beth) of Campbellsburg, Ken Nicholson (Nancy) of Vallonia, Cindy Reed (David) of Homer, GA and Jill Gilmer (Eric) of Cumming, GA.; his grandchildren, Kevin Nicholson (Tonetta), Krey Nicholson, Kala Nicholson-Cline (Matt), Samantha Nicholson Crockett (Brandon), Jessica Miller Burrell (Jason), Stephanie Miller Murphey (Justin), Corinne Gilmer (Ryan) and Erin Gilmer (Jason); his great grandchildren, Dallas, Skyler Nicholson, Eli, Carson Crockett, Caitlyn, Megan, Benjamin Burrell and Savannah Murphey; his sister Phyllis Nicholson Maudlin of Athens, AL; and his sisters-in-law, Ellen and Nancy. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
