He was predeceased by: his parents, Will Simmons and Iva Gross (Simmons); his wife Carman Simmons; and his sister Lucille Corum. He is survived by: his stepdaughters, Betty Byrne (Jack) of Brooklyn and Sandi Stephens of Florida; and his sister Gloria Cantrell (Hank) of Bowling Green, Kentucky. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 3 boys and 5 girls; 13 great-grandchildren, 7 boys and 6 girls; 10 great-great-grandchildren, 6 boys and 4 girls; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Legion Post 103, Marat Shriners, Noble, 32nd Degree Masons, Oakland Chapter 159 Order of the Eastern Star, the Scottish Rite, to a favorite program, or to the greatest need of The Entity.
