He was predeceased by: his parents, Lige Watson and Vesta Watson (Isbell); and his siblings, Loretta and Robert. He is survived by: his wife Donna L. Deaton; his children, Shane Watson, Robyn Yarbrough (Mike) and Jeannie Watson; his grandchildren, Makinsey Parker (Zack), Hailey Watson (Brandon) and Zachary Anderson (Charles); his great grandchildren, Amara and Bentley; his brothers, Rual, Grady, Gary, Boyd and Jim Deaton; and his sister-in-law Jan Russell. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Friday, January 17th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Waskom Capitol Hill Chapel (1010 E Main St, Cambridge City, IN 47327). A funeral service was held on Friday, January 17th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
