He was predeceased by: his parents, Lewis Hartwell and Roberta Hartwell (Vires); his daughter Melissa Reynolds; his brother Michael Hartwell; and his brother-in-law Ed Goodin.
He is survived by: his wife Judy Mitchell; his son David Hartwell of North Vernon; his stepdaughters, Laura Hamel of Columbus and Cassie May (Doug) of Columbus; his siblings, Terry Hartwell (Laura) of Florida, Tom Hartwell of North Vernon, Dean Hartwell (Jamie) of Butlerville, Keith Hartwell (Lisa) of Dupont, Mary Goodin of Lexington and Ceceila Abbott (Bill) of Lexington; his grandchildren, Brent McMillan (Paula) of North Vernon, Orin Johnson (Aisha) of North Vernon, Thomas Johnson of Butlerville, Josiah Hamel of Butlerville, Kayonna Sword of Columbus and Tyer Sword of Columbus; and his great grandchildren, Austin Cornett of North Vernon, Bentley Bennett of North Vernon, Arbor McMillian of North Vernon, Owen Johnson of North Vernon and Charlie Johnson of North Vernon.
Memorials may be made in honor of David through the funeral home to the American Cancer Society.
