He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Michael and Melba Schaeffer (Carter); his son Shane Michael Schaeffer; and his parents-in-law, Wayne and Wanda Jackson.
He is survived by: his wife Anita; his son Andrew Byron Schaeffer (Amanda); his grandchildren, Elizabith Knapp, Emilee Schaeffer and Eliot Schaeffer; and his siblings, Steve Schaeffer (Donna), Beth Ann Sweet (Alan), Travis Short (Renee), Kim Jackson (Aaron) and Allison Shirar (James).
