He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest Pope and Loretta Pope (Smallwood); his stepfather Hugh Tanksley; and his brothers, Joe Pope and Al Tanksley.
He is survived by: his daughters, Amy Gomez (Steve) of Denver and Kristy Benter (Dave) of Brownstown; his grandchildren, Katherine Benter of Brownstown and Jack Benter of Brownstown; and his sisters-in-law, Norma Pope of Indianapolis and Dr. Carol Tanksley of Austin, Texas. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be given to Brownstown Central High School Boys and Girls Basketball programs, Brownstown Christian Church, or Hickory Hills Golf Course.
