He was predeceased by: his parents, Belma Jean Matthews (Hynes) and Richard Bernard Matthews; his brothers, Daniel Matthews and Joseph Matthews; his niece Carisa Stout; and his nephew Ryan Matthews.
He is survived by: his sons, Richard Matthews, III (Stacy), Jeffrey Matthews (Val) and James Matthews (Jackie); his siblings, Michael Matthews (Pam), Karen Feltner (Terry), Sandra Stout (Sandy), Joyce Griffith (Billie) and Lori Aldred; and his grandchildren, Morgan Gray, Corey Matthews, Nicole Matthews (Nick), Alexandra Matthews, Mackenzie Matthews, Kayleb Matthews, Ethan Matthews, Bailey Matthews, Riley Matthews and Hailey Matthews. He is also survived by 2 great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and extended family members and friends.
