He was predeceased by: his parents, Carlos Dodson and Ethel Dodson (Lane); his wife Dorothy; his son Derek; and his brother Ronald Dean.
He is survived by: his brother Donald; his children, Denise (Walt), Connie (Oliver), Dennis (Greta) and Diana (Steve); and his brother Carlos Dodson. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren.
