He was predeceased by: his parents, William H. Mears, and Juanita Kunkel Mears, Sr.; and his brothers, Ken and Dick Mears. He is survived by: his wife Joan Mears of Batesville; his sons, William H. III Mears (Andrea) of Brookville, Brian Mears (Ann) of Batesville, Chad Mears (Marisa) of Brookville and Chase Mears (Chelsea) of Batesville; his grandchildren, Zach, Logan, Will, Nicole, Audrey, Emma, Lucas, Nora and Jacob Mears; and his siblings, Lois Arnold (Bill), Janet King (Brad) and Jean Rogers.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be directed to the Brookville American Legion.
