He was predeceased by: his child Ashley Bates; and his siblings, Nicholas Spring (Joan) and Sylvia Obermeyer (John). He is survived by: his wife Debra Bates; his son Brian Bates (Kristin); and his granddaughter Stella Bates. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
