He was predeceased by: his parents, James Mahoney and Evelyn Mahoney (Allison); and his siblings, J. D. Mahoney and Patricia Mahoney. He is survived by: his children, Ashley Porter (Joe) of Middlebury, IN, Jessica Mahoney (Jesse Poole) of Westland, MI and Shawn Mahoney (Jody) of Grand Rapids, MI; and his siblings, Michael Mahoney of Clearwater, FL, Allison Terrell (Jerry), Sue Paruszkiewicz (Michael) of Jackson, MI, Sally Walker (Clayton) of Canton, MI and Janet Shinske. He is also survived by six grandchildren.
