Barbara Young Obituary

Barbara J. Young, age 86, of Bremen, IN, died on January 18, 2022 at 12:05pm at Signature Health Care in Bremen, IN. She was born on October 28, 1935 to Rex and Dorothy (Locklin) Whitecotton in LaPorte, IN. Barbara then lived in Chicago, IL until she was 10 years old, at which time she moved to Elkhart, IN and graduated from Elkhart High School. Barbara married Lowell Young on August 8, 1953 in Bremen, IN, and they lived in the Bremen area for their 64 years of marriage. He preceded her in death on December 21, 2017. Barbara was a housewife as well as a factory worker. Surviving are 3 sons; William Young of Lampasas, TX; James Young of Bremen, IN; and Arthur (Mary) Young of Sulpher, OK; 13 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and 4 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; daughter, Deborah Anglemyer; and daughter-in-law, Terri Young. Cremation will take place and a private family service will be held at a later date. Memorials can be made in Barbara's name to Bremen Fire Department. Arrangements are with Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee, IN.
