He was predeceased by: his father Robert Lee Newman; and his brother-in-law Doug Stockwell. He is survived by: his mother Shirley Walters Newman; his sons, Jason Newman (Tina) and Joe Newman; his sister Karen Stockwell; his grandson Ricky Newman; and his nephew Jarrod Stockwell.
