He was predeceased by: his father Antonio Sams; his wife Brenda Sams; his daughter Christina Ruby Sams; and his brother Robert Lee Sams. He is survived by: his daughter Vivian Garrett (John); his granddaughter Ruby Garrett; and his siblings, Johnny Sams (Pat), Anna Metz and Donna Bragg. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
