He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles E. Carter and Pearl Carter (VanCleave); his stepmothers, Vivian and Imogene; his siblings, William, Nelson Carter, Caroline Carter and Barbara Burgett; his parents-in-law, Everett and Frances Heierman; and his brothers-in-law, Richard and Donald Heierman.
He is survived by: his wife Doris Heiermann; his daughters, Pamela Jordan (Marlon), Barbara Forehand Carter, Lisa Graening (Glen) and Rhonda Waltz (David); his grandchildren, Kevin (Whitney), Eric (Kristen), Kyle Jordan, Jennifer Hagan (John), David (Emily), Daniel Forehand, Brandy Pendergraft (Jeremy), Steven (Jennah) and Matthew Waltz (Casey); his great grandchildren, Dylan, Austin Carter, Hannah Brown, Addison Ray, John Paul, Ella Hagan, Olive, Fletcher, Leo, Cooper Jordan, Abigail and Marcus Forehand; his stepbrother George Robertson (Peggy); his brother-in-law Jim Burgett; his stepsisters, Ardith Holtz and Susan Forron; and his sisters-in-law, Gula Carter, Barbara Carter, Bette Heierman and Jan Logan. He is also survived by grandparents in Kentucky and his father and step-mothers.
