It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Michael W. Smekens of Bluffton, Indiana, who passed away on May 1, 2023, at the age of 82, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Clemen Smekens and Martha Smekens (Kelly); his son Patrick Scott Smekens; and his siblings, John, Joe Smekens and Jane Waters.

He is survived by: his children, Amy Gerber (Jarrod) of Bluffton and Chad Smekens (Amy) of Monroe; his grandchildren, Isaac Gerber, Caleb Gerber, Audrey Gerber, Madison Smekens, Reagan Smekens, Cailyn Smekens and Lauren Smekens; and his sister Suzie Studebaker (Gary) of Palm Harbor, FL..

Memorials may be made in Mike's memory to the FOP Cops for Kids Program and can be directed to the funeral home.

Enjoying camping together with our families at the state park to the midnight calls at the sheriff's department and ol' jail. To all the times we could signal"8" at "O1"(which was the old Pizza Hut) and go over the calls of the shift. You will be missed for your uncanny humor and heartfelt kindness.
