It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James E. Smith of Bluffton, Indiana, born in Swayzee, Indiana, who passed away on December 25, 2022, at the age of 90, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul L. Smith and Minnie Smith (Montgomery); his wife Janet; and his siblings, Chuck Smith, Edna Strahm, Bob Smith and Tom Smith.

He is survived by: his sons, Randy Smith (Lisa) of Bluffton, Larry Smith (Sarah) of Bluffton and Chris Smith (Missy) of Liberty Center; his granddaughter Heidi Fear (Doug) of Uniondale; his siblings, David Smith (Treena) of Daleville and Hazel Spaulding of Montpelier; and his sister-in-law Arlene Smith of Amboy, Indiana.. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made in Jim's memory to the Petroleum United Methodist Church.
