He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred T. Pope and Vivian Pope (Olson); and his brother Wayne Pope. He is survived by: his wife Evelyn of Bluffton; his children, Twila Dubbeld (Ron) of Bluffton and Allen Pope (Beth) of Indianapolis; and his siblings, Violet Veasey and Richard Pope (Linda) of Markle. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made in Gene's memory to All Tribes Missionary Council.
