He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter West and Rosie West (Parks); his former wife Lousie D. West; and his siblings, Ruby Mae Copeland, Harold, Raymond, Claude, Charles B. West and Stella Masterson.

He is survived by: his wife Eunice West of Bluffton; his children, Angela West-Waldron of Bluffton, Tammy King of Bluffton, Stacey West of Warren, Kelly Gardner (David Jr.) of Bluffton, Robert Barton of Bluffton, Terry Barton (Tracey) of Bluffton, Lisa Grogg (Bill) of South Whitley, Jason Barton of Anderson and Shaun West (Amy) of Hartford City; and his siblings, Pauline Rothgeb of Fort Wayne, Bernice Wine of Fort Wayne and Midge Ginter of Liberty Center. He is also survived by 36 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
