He was predeceased by: his parents, George C. and Geneva Adams (Benjamin); his brothers, Bill Adams and Larry Adams; and his former wife Helen Prince.

He is survived by: his wife Betty Tate of Bloomington; his sons, Dennis Adams of Bloomington and David Adams (Pam) of Bloomington; his grandchildren, Chantel Patton (Doug), Katie McAninch (Nathan), David Adams, Maddie Adams, Noah Tate and Micah Tate; his sisters, Martha Horrell (Donnie) and Nancy Foster (Tom); his sister-in-law Karen Adams; and also Debbie Tate (Travis) of Bloomington.
