He was predeceased by: his parents, Gene Workman Hayes and Edith Bland Hayes; his wife Sonja G. Inman Hayes; his children, Beth Strauser Martin and Warren Douglas Hayes; his brothers, Donald Gene Hayes (Jeri) and Larry Edward Hayes (Loessa); and his nephews, Mickey Gene Hayes and Aaron Gater.
He is survived by: his daughter Lyn Strauser; his sisters, Irene Hayes Davis (Virgil) and Joan Kay Hayes Gater; and his grandchildren, Michael Martin, Meghan Elliott McKisson (Scott), Douglas Martin (Jami) and Mallarie Elliott Taft (Jason). He is also survived by nine great grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
