He was predeceased by: his parents, Theodore Noyse Townsend and Eleanor Frances Townsend; his great-aunt Elinor Townsend; his siblings, John Townsend and Elizabeth Townsend; and his grandson Justin Strongram of Nashville, Indiana..

He is survived by: his children, Theodore Townsend (Brittany), Robert Townsend (Taylor) and Cassie Townsend.
