He was predeceased by: his parents, McKinley Helms and Helen Helms (Barge); his siblings, Pauline Holtsclaw, Laura Jane Hamlin, Esther Cox and George; his grandson Samuel Earl Helms; and his great great grandchild Dorrotha Jean Helms (Fuller).
He is survived by: his sons, Dale Eugene Helms (Marilyn) of Bloomfield, Paul Warren Helms (Ester) of Florida, Bennie Ray Helms (Cheryl) of Bloomfield, Steven Douglas Helms (Pam) of Bloomfield and Mark Edward Helms (Sarah) of Florida; and his grandchildren, Yvonne VanHentenryck (Perry), Dale Helms (Sara), Daniel Helms (Gredel), Rebecca Rivera (Luis), Cheryl Henderson (Jeff), Joshua Helms (Carianne), Trevor Helms, Jacob Helms (Laura), Ann Conner (Brian), Justin Helms (Grace), Jeremy Helms (Emily), Bailey Karr (Evan) and Taylor Helms (Katelyn).
